High quality shaft surface can prolong bearing life. On the contrary, rough, low hardness surface affects and reduces the service life of bearings.
A. Shaft Surface Roughness
1. When used under the condition of fluid lubrication, mirror processing is required on the surface of matching shaft to reduce the clearance of oil film as much as possible and make it close to the state of fluid lubrication so as to improve the performance of bearings.
2. When bearing is used under dry friction condition, only the surface roughness Ra=0.4-063 of matching shaft is controlled
B. Hardness of Shaft
The surface hardness of the shaft is no less than 220HB. Under the condition of high load and rocking motion, the shaft must be heat treated with hardness HRC50 or hard chromium plating, then grinded. After surface treatment, the corrosion resistance, surface hardness and lubricity can be improved. Under similar corrosion conditions such as sea water, the matching shaft must be electroplated with two or three hard chromium layers. Rough surface, sharp burrs and grooves of the shaft will damage the sliding layer of the bearing.
