Brass castings are brass moulded objects obtained by various casting methods, i.e. those with certain shape, size and properties obtained by pouring, injection, inhalation or other casting methods into the pre-prepared casting mold, after cooling, sand drop, cleaning and post-treatment.

  Brass castings have a long history of application. In ancient times, people used castings as coins, sacrificial weapons, weapons, tools and some living utensils. In modern times, brass castings are mainly used as blanks of machine parts. Some precision castings can also be directly used as machine parts. Brass castings account for a large proportion of mechanical products. For example, in tractors, the weight of brass castings accounts for 50-70% of the total weight of the machine, 40-70% of agricultural machinery, 70-90% of machine tools, internal combustion engines, etc. Among all kinds of castings, mechanical castings have the most varieties, the most complex shapes and the largest amount of castings, accounting for about 60% of the total output of castings. Next are ingot moulds for metallurgy and pipelines for engineering.

  Brass castings are also closely related to daily life. For example, door handles, door locks, heaters, water pipes, iron pans, gas stove racks, irons and so on, which are often used, are all castings.

  After a series of polishing, refining and polishing, brass castings have to be surface treated in order to achieve ideal artistic effect, so as to present the author's design intention and the appearance color that conforms to the connotation of the work
 Due to the influence of many factors, defects such as blowhole, pinhole, slag inclusion, crack and pit often appear in brass castings. The commonly used repair equipment for brass castings are argon arc welding machine, resistance welding machine, cold welding machine, etc. For brass castings with low quality and appearance requirements, the defects can be repaired by argon arc welding machines with high calorific value and high speed. However, in the field of defect repair of precision brass castings, secondary defects such as deformation, hardness reduction, sand holes, local annealing, cracking, pinhole, wear, scratch, undercut, or insufficient bonding force and internal stress damage will occur during the repair due to the great thermal effect of argon welding. Cold welding machine just overcomes the above shortcomings, its advantages are mainly manifested in the small heat affected area, no preheating of brass castings, cold welding repair at room temperature, so there is no deformation, undercut and residual stress, no local annealing, and no change in the metal structure of the castings.
